We are not alone, we live in God's world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God's presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

Invitation to the Offering 1
The past few years have been unsettling and it has been difficult. Routines shattered routines, keeping us from friends and family. Yet for most of us, our privilege has kept us whole, while around us others have suffered. Deeply embedded racism, inadequate safety nets for the poor, vindictiveness among neighbors, and a politics of selfishness, led to death and suffering. As we yearn for and move toward a semblance of normalcy, we ask God to keep our eyes and hearts on the poor, the immigrant, the oppressed, and to disrupt our desires to live unaware of the pain and suffering in our fragmented world. During our Season of Peace this month let our offerings display our commitment to help this community do our part.
You are welcome to bring your offering forward now and put it in this basket, or later, and you are always welcome to continuing to mail your gifts to the church. Let us receive this morning's offering.
Offertory “En Priére” Gabriel Fauré

Celebration of World Communion Day and Peacemaking
Reverend Debra McGuire
Music Director - Jessica Reddell-Popovich
Liturgist - Tamra Hollenbeck
Opening Prayer 1
Jesus prayed that we might be one. One in spirit. One in mission. In union and communion with each other and with You. Today, God, we confess fumblings and failures in accomplishing unity, as we set aside yet another day to remind ourselves of the task. On this World Communion Sunday, give us eyes to recognize your reflection in the eyes of Christians everywhere. Give us a mind to accept and celebrate our differences. Give us a heart big enough to love your children everywhere. We thank you for setting a table with space enough for us all! Amen.
Welcome
Introit “Berceuse” Gabriel Fauré
Call to Worship 2
Around the world people gather to break bread and pour wine. We gather with them in heart and mind. Around the world the broken body is made whole. As part of that body we join in its unity. Around the world the Banquet of God is prepared for the table. We, who share in the banquet, come eagerly to be fed. Let us worship together.
Hymn 530 One Bread, One Body
Statement of Faith 3
We share one faith, have one calling, are of one soul and one mind; have one God and Father, are filled with one Spirit, are baptized with one baptism, eat of one bread and drink of one cup, confess one Name, are obedient to one Lord, work for one cause, and share one hope. Together we come to know the height and the breadth and the depth of the love of Christ; are built up to the stature of Christ, to the new humanity; know and bear one another's burdens, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ that we need one another and up build one another, admonishing and comforting one another; that we suffer with one another for the sake of righteousness. Together we pray; together we serve God in this world.

Giving is not a casual act — it relates God's work to our work. Peter writes: “as each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace, that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” Let us give as people whose work is inextricably linked to God's great works of creation, redemption and empowerment.
You are welcome to bring your offering forward now and put it in this basket, or later, and you are always welcome to continuing to mail your gifts to the church. Let us receive this morning's offering.
Offertory "You Welcome Us All" Craig Bray
Prayer of Dedication 5
Today we also dedicate the offerings received from our Season of Peace Global Witness period. We appreciate all who have given to this special offering.
Let us pray: Generous God, through your Son, Jesus Christ, you have shown us what it means to love. You remind us today that our love spreads far and wide as we dedicate this global offering. You call us to follow your example— to love our neighbors near and around the world as we love ourselves. Continue to write your law of love on our hearts so we recognize circumstances beyond our normal reach and serve accordingly. Give us an unwavering passion for justice, and a tenacious faith that will not rest until the hungry are fed, the oppressed find relief, and the outsider finds a welcome this whole world over. Amen.
Sacrament of Holy Communion 7
Welcome to the delight that is this table. Our Lord's table. Welcome to the table where the love of God meets Humanity around the world. We welcome everyone to this table, no matter your church background, your knowledge of biblical ideas, no matter your sexual orientation or gender truth, no matter your mood. Wherever and whoever you are you are welcome here, you belong, you are worthy.
“This is for you, but it may change you from one who is anxiously concerned about their own redemption into one who knows that Christ's body is the earth and all who walk upon it, are one in Him. Into knowing that we are not redeemed by our being good but by our being connected. Into knowing that daring to eat at the table of Jesus Christ has unimaginable consequences.
So come, come to be made whole, and to participate in the work of making us one with Him and each other.

Loving God, whose touch can heal the broken places of life, touch us today... God of peace, whose spirit of peace can quiet our spirits of confusion and despair, reassure us today... Forgiving God, whose call to repentance promises grace upon grace, place your mercy in our souls today... You who heal the sick and liberate the imprisoned, who bring justice in the midst of oppression and strength in the midst of weakness, pour out your spirit of power upon us today. Open our hearts to new faithfulness, redirect our waywardness, and hold us gently in your goodness. May your name be glorified in us and through us. We ask it through Christ Jesus, your only begotten son, he who is our Lord and our Savior, our brother and our friend. Amen.

May our gifts lay a foundation of hope for all in despair; may they brighten the shadows of those who wander alone; may they cause the voiceless to join the morning stars in singing your praises. In faith and gratitude we offer common things made miracles by your grace. Bless what we give and bless what we keep, that all may be used for your glory. Amen.
Sacrament of Holy Communion 1

Opening Prayer 1
The words God speaks are the life and sustenance of all that exists. The life Jesus gives is the re-creation and renewed birth of all that is broken and worn. The Spirit's stirring in our souls is the inspiration for creativity, compassion, joy, and community. Life-giving, life-restoring, life-fulfilling God; may our whole lives be worship. In all things, may we seek to connect with and to reflect your love and your hope.
Welcome

Call to Worship 2
God hears the cry of the needy, and does not wait for us to call before coming to our aid; While we were still lost in our brokenness and sin, God came to us lived among us died our death and rose to lead us into life. And so we come to worship, to offer God our devotion and love our thanksgiving and praise. For God is worthy. Praise to our God.
Hymn 837 What a Fellowship, What a Joy Divine
Statement of Faith 2

Invitation to the Offering 2
Giving is not a casual act—it relates God's work to our work. Peter writes: “as each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace, that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
Let us give as people whose work is inextricably linked to God's great works of creation, redemption and empowerment.
Offertory "Ständchen" Franz Schubert
Prayer of Dedication 3
Generous God, through your Son, Jesus Christ, you have shown us what it means to love. And you call us to follow Your example—to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Continue to write your law of love on our hearts. Give us an unwavering passion for justice, and a tenacious faith that will not rest until the hungry are fed, the oppressed find relief, and the outsider finds a welcome. Amen.
