A More Light Congregation

Bethany Presbyterian Church

Bethany is pleased to host weekly meetings of Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

CoDA is a twelve-step program for people who share a common desire to develop functional and healthy relationships. A straightforward definition of codependency is "the chronic sacrifice of self for the maintenance of a relationship"; in this definition 'relationship' means any interaction. CoDA itself avoids rigidly defining codependence, and the understanding of codependence with CoDA continues to adapt over time. However, CoDA has defined codependent behavior patterns and characteristics, such as: "I have difficulty identifying what I am feeling... I judge what I think, say or do harshly, as never good enough... I put aside my own interests in order to do what others want... I freely offer advice and direction to others without being asked... I use indirect or evasive communication to avoid conflict or confrontation."

In CoDA, we help one another by supporting each other in healthy ways and by practicing the 12 Steps. Please come and see if a CoDA meeting is a good fit for you. Sharing at meetings is optional.

We meet in Room Three (down the stairs) every Monday beginning at 6:30 p.m.  For more information or directions, contact us.
