Lenten Devotions

Our Lenten study this year comes from the magazine Presbyterians Today, and it includes scripture, a devotion, sharing, and prayer.  We are calling the study "Breathing Through The Season of Lent", and it will be co-led by Pastor Kathryn and Elder Tamra Hollenbeck.

The study will be held after church on Sunday mornings, beginning on February 14 and continuing through March 20, from 11:30 – 12:30 pm.

Please consider joining in for one or all of the sessions and help prepare your heart, mind, and soul for this holiest time of year.

Also during the Season of Lent, we will participate in two acts of devotion; one spiritual and one physical:

The spiritual act of devotion will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 10.  We will have an opportunity to place our burdens on the cross in the form of paper notes. You may participate at any time: before, during or after worship – even during the week. Slips of paper and pencils are available on the back table.

The physical act of devotion of collecting items for the San Bruno Catholic Worker House will begin on Sunday, February 14.  There will be a single basket at the foot of the cross in the chancel. For this act of devotion, we have the opportunity to bring our gifts to the cross and place them in the basket. When the basket overflows, another basket will be added. During our Palm Sunday service we will dedicate our gifts to Catholic Worker House. It will be a joyful thing to watch the baskets overflow for those in need! Items needed for the Shelter can be found here.
