A More Light Congregation

Bethany Presbyterian Church

The local community is invited to be with us as we commemorate and celebrate Holy Week at Bethany Presbyterian Church in San Bruno. All people, of every faith journey, are welcome at Bethany.

Palm Sunday - April 14

Come join in the celebration as we open the service, waving palm branches and singing "Hosanna!" During the service, we will begin the journey toward the passion as we hear the story of Holy Week as presented in the book of Mark. As the service progresses, the story will be heard, and the sanctuary will be stripped of all adornments. The congregation will be asked to leave in silence at the end of the service. Coffee and refreshments will be served out on the patio that morning.

Good Friday - April 19

The church sanctuary will be opened from 12:00 - 3:00 pm, and there will be scripture readings and prayerful meditations available for any who would like to come and spend some time reflecting on this powerful, poignant part of the story of the death of Jesus. Members of the Worship Committee will be at the church to make sure the doors are open, and all are welcome to come and spend some time in quiet meditation.

Easter Sunrise Service, April 21 at 6:15 am

Greet the dawn of this Easter morning as we gather to worship up in the Sunrise Area above and to the west of the church parking lot, at 6:15 am.  This service has become a favorite tradition for those who participate, and it helps to heighten the sense of wonder and amazement that the disciples must have felt when they first realized that Jesus was no longer in the tomb! Plan to dress warmly and bring a blanket to sit on, and join with others as we once again hear the miraculous story of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ! Following the service, there will be an Easter Sunday brunch served in the sanctuary, with hot coffee, tea, and cocoa, cinnamon rolls, fruit, juice, and other treats. Signup sheets for that gathering will be out soon!

Easter Worship, April 21 at 10:00 am

All are welcome to join in the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord at the 10:00 am worship service. Join us for wonderful music, stirring hymns, and joy filled proclamations of "He is risen! He is risen indeed!" Invite your friends, neighbors, and families to this service of hope and

excitement! The Community Life/Action Committee will be providing the reception after church on this morning, and there will be an Easter "Goodie Table" provided by Worship Committee.
