Ash Sunday - March 10
This year, the Worship Committee has decided to try something a little different. Instead of Ash Wednesday, which is traditionally marked on the Wednesday before the first Sunday of Lent, we will be starting our Lenten Journey with the disposition of ashes as part of our worship service on Sunday, March 10. The ashes are prepared each year using several of the palm branches that were waved in church during the previous year's Palm Sunday, and those ashes will be used to mark us a children of God and followers of Christ.
Fresh Fruit for March 10th
For this first Sunday in Lent, we are asking the congregation to bring fresh fruit - oranges, apples, bananas, grapes, kiwis, etc - to adorn the communion table as a symbol of abundance and delight. All the fruit will then be taken to the Shelter to be used during the breakfasts served on weekdays. Please bring any fresh fruit to the sanctuary for worship on Sunday, March 10, and thank you in advance!
Lenten Food Collection for San Bruno Shelter
Throughout Lent, we will collect food and supplies for the San Bruno Shelter. Please bring non-perishable food items and any other supplies as requested by the Shelter Ministry Committee. Those items will be dedicated on Palm Sunday, April 14, and sent to the shelter to help our sisters and brothers in need.
